Against the East Edmonton was a .500 club, going 14-14-4. The Maple Leafs weren’t even a .500 club against the Eastern Conference. Sadly for the Oilers .500 was tied for the 2nd worst that any Western club fared against the East (tied with Vancouver but ahead of Dallas).

Our record should have been even better than this. The big eastern road swing early in the year saw us with some of the worst goal tending in decades. There should have been wins against the Leafs, Lightning, NYI and Habs that were losses directly due to poop goal-tending. Easily could have had a 20-8-4 record against the east with average tending...

I'm guessing we finish behind Phoenix and Vancouver

Phoenix is well coached and Vancouver still has an excellent D core.

If we get one or two more NHL centres and hope for no injuries, we may be able to pass them.

although the nucks offence may be sparse and thin, i think they'll be depending more on their defence which is still deep and very solid. add to that a strong season from miller (which is at the very least, very plausible) they still have the edge on us imo.

phoenix is coached by dave tippet and play his style to a tee.

if calgary buys in at all like they did last year, they arent an easy 2 points for anyone.

4th and in the hunt till the end is the realistic goal most likely, but any of those other 3 could surprise and easily be stronger than us as we have SO MANY question marks.
